Also of interest, Archaeology has revealed that the first century AD Jews did not place bodies in Sarcophagai (stone coffins). They laid the BOUND body on a ledge within the burial chamber. After decay, the bones were then placed in a small stone box called an OSSUARY, if the family could afford such a luxury. Obviously the 14th century AD Greek artist was unaware of these early Jewish practices.
